Les figurent zoomorphes existent depuis fort longtemps dans de nombreuses cultures, religions et civilisations. Dès le IV millénaire, les égyptiens représentaient leurs divinités en associant animaux et humains. En Afrique le port de masques zoomorphes est encore d’actualité où ils permettent de communiquer avec les esprits dans de nombreuses cérémonies et rituels.

En associant la représentation animale à la figure humaine je l’enrichis des mythes, des croyances et des symboles qui sont attachés aux animaux à travers l’imaginaire collectif et individuel. Les têtes animales de mes figures hybrides ne cachent pas les corps humains qu’elles prolonges. Têtes et corps ne font qu’un, les corps sont entièrement habités par l’animalité et les têtes animales sont empreintes de l’humanité du personnage.

Zoomorphic figures have long existed in a number of cultures, regions and civilisations. Four thousand years ago, Egyptians depicted their divinities by combining animals and humans. Even today, in Africa, zoomorphic masks are used to communicate with spirits in numerous ceremonies and rituals.
By associating animal representation with the human figure, I have enriched it with the myths, beliefs and symbols attached to animals through the collective and individual imagination. The animal heads of my hybrid figures do not hide the human bodies they extend. Heads and bodies are one, the bodies are completely inhabited by animal nature and the animal heads are imprinted with the individual’s humanity.
